After having made a full assessment of available options for a Customer Relationship Management system with a Billing Engine and a Trading System, HydroWingas decided in August 2006 to invest in the Excelergy CRM/Billing system and the Triple Point trading system.
The systems will allow HydroWingas to deliver timely and accurate bills and services and manage their relationships with customers through state-of-the-art and flexible automated solutions.
HydroWingas is the first user of the Excelergy CRM/billing platform in the UK, although the system is well proven in other liberalised markets in the US and on the Continent. It not only has unprecedented flexibility to adapt to changing business circumstances in terms of, for example, transport cost structures and levies or taxes, but also changing customer sites or MPR’s. It can also conveniently deal with more complex price structures, thus allowing HydroWingas to deliver its leading service levels to customers while penetrating further into the market, to levels where other suppliers cannot justify offering such a wide range of products and services.
The advantages of the Excelergy Customer Relationship Management System and Billing Engine are as follows:-
- Consistent “single-source” usage of customer related data for easier and more accurate maintenance;
- Direct system linkage to the National Grid meter reads for DM-sites, thus avoiding human error in processing meter reads;
- Ability to process NDM sites monthly in a similar way to DM sites, based on meter reads taken and fed back to the National Grid system;
- Robust system operations without the vulnerability that spreadsheet solutions typically have;
- Fast invoice generation, from the moment the reconciled meter reads have been made available by National Grid;
- Efficient handling of flexible price structures, allowing these to be made available to a wide range of customers.
The virtual access to the traded NBP markets that many HydroWingas customers benefit from through their supply contract with HydroWingas is further strengthened by the Triple Point trading system, managing transactions and deal flow from deal capture to payment in a very efficient and secure manner.
The roll-out of both systems was completed in March. After an initial delay in billing over January and February, HydroWingas is now well positioned to take full benefit from its new IT-systems. With that, HydroWingas’ primary IT-infrastructure is complete.
Based on this newly available infrastructure, HydroWingas is currently building further enhancements and is already testing its new Web-Portal with a few selected pilot customers. The Web-Portal will give our customers access through the Internet to a) market analysis and market information, b) consumption information on meter and site level and c) an overview of their bills.
More on that in my next update.
I wish you a very relaxing Easter break!
